At Papsda we believe that God has called us to serve others with love. It’s one of our core values to selflessly serve. As a part of that plan, we have ‘adopted’ a small village in rural Cambodia. We send volunteer teams to Cambodia at least once per year to build and equip. This year, we have started a relationship with Captivating International, specifically their anti-trafficking project in Nepal. In July 2018 we went to South Africa to the Khomelela Community Centre in Bushbuck Ridge.
In 2014 Papsda, in conjunction with ADRA, adopted a very poor village in rural Cambodia. Since then Papsda teams have made 7 visits to the area to LOVE, LEARN and SERVE. Our intention has always been to equip people to live health and happy lives within their own context, as well as build relationship and learn together. We employ a man named Onn, through ADRA Cambodia to facilitate our serving locally on a day to day basis.
Together we’ve funded and helped build a preschool, that we continue to resource; taught local villagers how to build toilets and water tanks as well as provided funding for wells and ponds to water crops and animals; run small engine mechanics and sewing training courses over several months out of which multiple villagers have established their own small business; built chicken houses that provide small business opportunities and financial independence.
Since 2016 we have been expanding into surrounding villages with water, sanitation and hygiene projects, and supporting locals schools. In 2019 we will build an additional preschool to serve a new community.
Our next ‘Papsda on a Mission’ trip to Cambodia is happening November 28 to December 13.
